Bachelor of Visual Art (Four Years)

It is a 4-year undergraduate degree in the field of fine arts. It is specially designed for students who have creative instincts and want to build a career in the field of arts.

Visual art is a form of art that deals with the visual form in nature like ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, film making, and architecture. The course appeals to the aesthetic sense of the students and helps them to increase their imagination in the field of art.

The students planning to take up BVA can choose to specialize in the three classical branches of visual media i.e, painting, sculpture, and architecture.

Many other art forms like the performing arts, conceptual art, textile arts also include some aspects of visual arts. Therefore BVA can also be done with courses like product designing, furniture designing, textile designing, interior designing, music, theatre, film, dance, animation, etc.

The students will be given both theoretical and practical knowledge in the area they want to specialize, and help them to build a successful career in that field.

WHY STUDY BVA?

Visual arts education allows students to express their ideas and emotions and also helps them to communicate through images.

Visual arts helps with the aesthetic, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of an individual.

The skills that the students will learn during the course are creativity, artistic ability, organization skills, ability to focus and concentrate, observant, visualization skills, imaginative skills, innovative skills, ability to express, etc.

Visual arts education helps to preserve the diverse cultural heritage and helps us to visualize our origin and history. The painting and sculpture that we see in the museums are not just the forms of art, they tell stories about our past. Today, the BVA graduates are communicating stories and news from around the world through movies, videos, dance forms, paintings, and sculptures.

The BVA graduates will be able to find jobs in areas like art studios, museums & galleries, film industry, the television industry, photo studios, clothing industry, and so on.

ADMISSION PROCESS

The admission to the BVA courses is usually based on the entrance test conducted by the particular institute. The institutes conduct an aptitude and creative test, which is followed by a personal interview. The admission procedure followed by the top institutes are mentioned below:

  • Step 1: Application: The candidates will have to apply to the institutes by filling up the application form.
  • Step 2: Entrance exam: Candidates who have applied can download the admit card and sit for the entrance exam. The examination will be mainly to test the aptitude and also the creative ability of the student.
  • Step 3: Merit-List: The candidates who have cleared the minimum cut-off will be shortlisted for further processing.
  • Step 4: Interview: The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a personal interview, where they will be asked questions related to the field of study they choose. Also, they may have to provide evidence of their creativity, which may include the portfolio of drawing, photographs, crafts, etc.
  • Step 5: Offer Letter: The selected candidates will be sent an offer letter to join and all details about the fees and accommodation will be mentioned.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The candidates should fulfill the following eligibility criteria to take admission into BVA courses:

  • They should have successfully completed their 10+2 in any stream (arts, science or commerce) from a recognized board.
  • They should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in their class 12th. This may vary according to the institute. Some institutes also offer relaxation to the reserved category candidates.
OBJECTIVES

Study of Various Traditional and Modern VISUAL ARTS and PERFORMING ARTS. To expose students to the best of world art with special emphasis in promoting the culture and heritage of the local along with the contemporary development by conducting workshops and lectures by distinguished artists. Constant evolution through tutorials, studio discussions and assignments. And the social cultural development also.

The B.V.A. Degree course has the following Main Branches of study. However the 2nd year means 1st semester to 4th semester departmental Syllabus is common to all Branch of study. It is the foundation course.
