Nursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals families and communities so they may attain, maintain or recover optimum health and quality of life.

Health is the fundamental right of the individual in the society. Nurse is a professionally trained person for enabling a person to maintain and sustain health and well being.

GNM is a diploma course of 3 years full time program after completion of course they will be registered nurse.

After completion of GNM

  • Graduate Nurses will be knowledgeable, competent with clear critical thinking skills who are caring, motivated, assertive and well-disciplined responding to the changing needs of profession, health care delivery system and society.
  • Graduate Nurses will assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health care services in hospital or public health sittings.
  • Able to make independent decisions in nursing situations within the scope of practice, protect the rights of individuals and groups and conduct research in the areas of nursing practice and apply evidence-based practice.
  • They will assume role of practitioner, teacher, supervisor and manager in clinical or public health settings.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Objectives

On completion of the programme the nurse will be able to:

  • Demonstrate competency in providing health care services to individual, sick or well, using nursing process.
  • Assess the nursing need of clients from birth to death.
  • Plan and carry out appropiate action to meet nursing needs.
  • Provide effective nursing care for maintaining best possible level of health in all aspects.
  • Promote self care in people under their care.
  • Apply problem solving techniques in nursing practice
  • Evaluate effectiveness of nursing care.
  • Apply Knowledge from the humanities, biological and behavioral sciences in functioning as a nurse.
  • Participate as member of the health team in delivery of curative preventive, promotive and rehabilitative health care service.
  • Function effectively with members of the health team and community applying the knowledge of human relations and communiaction skills in her work.
  • Mobilise community resources and their involvement in working with the communities.
  • Demonstrate use of ethical values in their personal and professional organization
  • Recognize the need for continuing education for professional organization
  • Demonstrate basic skills in teaching patients and giving nursing care to them.
  • Demonstrate basic skills in administration and leadership while working with other member of health team and community.
  • Assist in research activities

Programme Outcome

After completion of the program

  • Students nurses will become a graduate nurse
  • Graduate nurses will be able to shoulder responsibilities as a professional competent nurses and midwives in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health care services in hospital, community and all health care sittings.
  • Graduate nurse will function as a teacher, supervisior, researcher and management in all health care settings.

ANM – Syllabus of Indian Nursing Council

ELIGIBILITY AND ADMISSION

Eligibility

  • 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually for any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by central Government. However Science is preferable.
  • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
  • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/ Centre.
  • Registered ANM with pass mark.
  • For foreign nationals

  • The entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, State Nursing Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed as above.
  • Reservation:

  • For disabled candidates: 3% Disability reservation to be considered with a disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity and other eligibility criteria with regard to age qualification will be same as prescribed for each nursing programme. Note : A committee to be formed consisting of medical officer authorized by medical board of state government and a nursing expert in the panel which may decide whether the candidates have the disability of locomotor of 40% to 50%.
  • 5% is relaxed for SC/ST candidates.
  • Any other quotas as per the State Govt. under the reservation policy.

Note: Quotas shall be included in the seats sanctioned and not above it.

  • Admission of students shall be once in a year.
  • Students shall be medically fit.
  • Minimum age for admission will be 17 years.(as on 31st December of that year) The upper age limit is 35 yrs. For ANM / for LHV, there is no age bar

Admission Process

1. Aspirants can apply online to https://admission.sbu.ac.in/?utm_source=Website&utm_medium=Homepage&utm_campaign=Apply NowTab. They may also download the application form from the website of the University and may submit along with the relevant documents to the Information Centre of the University. They may also walk down to the University campus along with the relevant documents to the Information Centre for counseling and further admission process.

2. Application Form and Prospectus are available in the office of Mahadevi Birla Institute of Nursing & Clinical Technology on a cash payment of Rs.500/-.

3. The application form shouls be filled by the applicant with her own hand writing. Please fill details as per the high school certificate.

4. The information given in the application form should be correct, any false information may lead to disqualification.

5. The completed application form should be submitted in the office with Rs.200/- towards entrance examination.

6. Enclose the following with filled in application form :

  • Photocopies of 10th (matric) and 10+2 or equivalent examination mark sheet, admit card and certificates.
  • Two Coloured Passport Sizes Photograph

Applicants should attach the copies of the following Certificates/Documents.

  • Matric Marksheet, Certificate and Admit Card.
  • 10+2 Marksheet, Certificates and Admit Card.
  • Group photographs of the candidates with her family members.
  • Two copies of the photographs of each of the visting family member (maximum three members)

Selection Process

Admission shall be through Entrance examination. Entrance test shall comprise of:

a) Aptitude for Nursing- 10 marks.

b) General Science -50 marks

c) General knowledge- 20 marks

d) English- 10 marks

e) General ability -10 marks.

-Minimum qualifying marks for entrance test shall be 50% marks.
