great enthusiasm in the university campus. At the very onset the flag was
hoisted and the colorful balloons were released. March Past and P.T. were
performed by the students of different houses and showcased their talent with

Sports activities plays an important role in every curriculum. Umang was organised as a week long inter-house sports meet within the campus with an objective to bring together bright and young talents in various sports.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
As we wrap up the first semester and reflect on what we might like to change for next year, FDP was organised by the University for one week in association with UGC-HRDC, which suggests a Curation Project as a way of fostering higher order thinking as an alternative to traditional papers or classroom presentations.
Industrial Visit
INDUSTRIAL VISIT
Industrial visit is an imperative part of any curriculum with an objective to come across real life scenario at workplace and to inculcate ethics of that environment. This year university organised industrial visit to Usha Martin Pvt.Ltd. and MSMI Tool Room for B.TECH, Diploma, MBA, BBA, and B.COM students.

RUN FOR UNITY
'Run for Unity' is a marathon dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It encourages India to run together. On Sardar Patel's 143rd birth anniversary, as per direction of the UGC, New Delhi, Universities were directed to organize "Run for Unity" on 31st October 2018, in the University campus. All the SBU students including faculties took part in the marathon.

An event was organized on "Moral Values" by the Yoga Department on 30th October 2018, in the presence of Swami Nityanand Ji, who told us about the importance of Truth, Love, Benevolence and Forgiveness to get success in life.

SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN
The University observed Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Day on Gandhi Jayanti that is on 2nd October 2018. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is the most significant cleanliness campaign by the Government of India. A cleanliness pledge led with an aim to achieve the vision of a 'Clean India' by 2nd October 2019. SBU paid its gratitude with a token of few steps towards the same.

FRESHERS' DAY
Fresher's day was organised to welcome the newly admitted students of SBU, Ranchi, focussing on overall development of the students to cope with the increasing pace and change of modern life, students need new life skills such as the ability to deal with stress and frustration. This year the University has observed the Fresher's Day "AVINANDAN 2018" with an objective to create bonding between various students.

INDUCTION
Induction Programme was organised at Sarala Birla Campus, Ranchi for all the courses as per the AICTE/UGC norms. Its purpose was to make the students feel comfortable in their new environment, open them up, set a healthy daily routine, create bonding in the batch as well as between faculty and students, develop awareness, sensitivity and understanding of the self, people around them, society at large, and nature.
