About IIC at SBU

On April 19, 2024, Sarala Birla University in Ranchi established its Innovation Council (IIC) to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among its students and faculty. The council aims to create a dynamic ecosystem that promotes innovation, entrepreneurship, and the commercialization of innovative ideas.

By establishing the Innovation Council, as per guidelines of Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India, the Sarala Birla University aims to position itself as a hub for innovation, empowering its student and faculty community to contribute meaningfully to society and their economy.

Vision

"To create an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship that nurtures creativity, transforms ideas into impactful solutions, and empowers individuals to drive positive change through interdisciplinary collaboration, cutting-edge research and real-world problem-solving.

Function

  • Promote Innovation: Encourage students and faculty to think creatively and come up with novel ideas, products, and services that address current societal, technological, and environmental challenges.
  • Foster Entrepreneurship: Inspire students to transform their innovative ideas into viable business ventures, providing them with the necessary tools, mentorship, and resources to build sustainable businesses.
  • Collaborative Learning: Develop an environment where interdisciplinary collaboration encouraged, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, skills, and experiences between different academic departments, industries, and external organizations.
  • Support for Research & Development: Facilitate high-quality research and innovation, pushing the boundaries of knowledge and applying that research to solve real-world problems.
  • Community Impact: Create solutions that not only have commercial value but also benefit society at large, supporting initiatives that address social issues, sustainability, and community welfare.
  • Encouraging Creativity: By providing resources and support for innovative projects, the council seeks to inspire students and faculty to think outside the box and develop novel solutions to realworld challenges.
  • Networking: The IIC will facilitate partnerships with industries, startups, and other educational institutions, creating a network for knowledge sharing and collaborative projects.
  • Skill Development: Workshops, seminars, and training programs will be organized to equip participants with the necessary skills for effective innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Funding and Support: The council will explore funding opportunities for promising projects and startups, helping to turn ideas into viable businesses.
  • Disseminating Innovations: Regular events, such as innovation fairs and pitch competitions, will be held to showcase the innovative projects developed within the university.
