9. Is there any Dress Code or Uniform for students?

-To lend brand-exclusivity to each of our students, a dress code is mandatory for the students of the University. Students are required to follow the common Dress Code of the University.

10. Where can students purchase Uniforms?

There are various shops in the market which provide University Uniform.

11. Is it necessary for the parents to attend/ accompany children during counseling?

-No. It is not mandatory for parents to attend/accompany children during counselling. But they need to sign various documents related to admission.

12. Does SARALA BIRLA UNIVERSITY offer Ph.D Programs?

-No, at present the University doesn’t offer Ph.D programs.

13. Can a student apply for UG/PG program in absence of 10+2/Graduation final year result?

-Yes, student can apply for UG/PG program in absence of 10+2/Graduation final year result but before commencement of classes the result need to be submitted.

14. Are marks obtained in the qualifying exams considered for Admission?/What is the selection criterion of Sarala Birla University?

-All admissions are strictly on merit. Admissions to some courses are based on merit in the All-India entrance test/ SBU_CET, and in some programs based on merit in the qualifying examination.

15. How many application forms one can fill while applying to various programs at Sarala Birla University?

-Courses are combined under different groups. Only one application is sufficient for courses under the same group. Separate applications are required for courses under different groups.

18. Is there any Management/Reservation/Donation Quota?

-No. All admissions are awarded strictly on merit and we don’t have any management quota, reserved/ donation seats or payment seats of any kind.

19. Can I get admission based on ENTRANCE TEST ALONE?

-Depending on the admission criteria, the admissions will be based on merit in the entrance test or marks in the qualifying examination. However, all candidates must fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements.

20. What will be the venue of the Counselling process and is Skype facility available for the Counselling process?

- No, Currently Skype counselling facility is not available physical presence of the candidate or parent is mandatory. Venue for counselling would be Sarala Birla University Campus, Birla Knowledge City, P.O.- Mahilong, Purulia Road, Ranchi- 835103.

1. What if I have some documents pending which I cannot submit at the time of Admission?

- Need to provide undertaking that you will submit pending documentsby the given date, in case of no submission Admission can be subject to cancellation as per University rules.

2. Can I take back the original documents?

-All the original documents are returned after verification,except Migration Certificate, TC/CLC/SLC, and Character Certificate.

3. What are the documents required while attending the Counseling/ Admission?

- On being admitted, the student shall immediately submit the following documents (attested photocopies need to be submitted and original need to be shown):-

  • Class X Statement of Marks, Passing Certificate of X for Diploma / UG/ PG courses.
  • Class XII Statement of Marks, Passing Certificate of XII for Diploma Lateral Entry/ UG/ PG courses.
  • Graduation Statement of Marks, Graduation Passing Certificate for PG courses only.
  • Migration Certificate, SLC/TC/CLC and Character Certificatein original from the last institute attended.
  • Anti-Ragging Affidavit by Student and Parents in the given format.
  • Medical Certificate issued by Registered Medical Practitioner (Doctor).
  • 8 Photographs passport size colored.
  • Copy of the Application Form.

Facility Related

1. What are the facilities provided to the parents accompanying their children to the University Hostel?

-There are limited separate rooms in girls and boys hostels for the stay of parents accompanying their children to the University. In case of lack of separate room facility for Parents they can stay in the same room with the student and avail of the hostel food facility. However, prior information about the arrival of parents along with their ward should be made to the UniversityOffice. Prior Permission for stay is mandatory.

2. What types of facilities are provided inside the University Campus for students?

  • Central Library is open for all 7 days a week.
  • Hi-tech Computer Labs with Wi-Fi connection during the college hours.
  • Department of Student Welfare.
  • Various student clubs to enhance students’ skills.
  • Food Court/Cafeteria and Canteen.

3. Are there any accommodations available privately outside/near the University campus? If yes from where can I get the list?

-Yes, there are accommodations available outside the university campus. You can find such accommodations near the University.

-Hostel Accommodation fee is to be paid semester wise depending upon room category.

6. What kind of medical facilities are available at Campus?

-First Aid facilities are available with the Warden. On-Call Doctor is available in campus and hostel. University has ambulance facility too.

7. What all will be provided in my hostel room?

-Bed, mattress, cupboard, study-table and chair is provided for all occupants.

8. Is hostel fee inclusive of laundry charges?

-Bed-sheet and pillow cover is washed by hostel housekeeping staff. In case students require laundry facility, it is available on chargeable basis.

9. Can I open a bank account near the campus?

-Yes, you can open your bank account in Indian Overseas Bank branch opposite the University premises.

10. What kind of food is served in Campus hostel?

-Both Non-vegetarian and Vegetarian food is served in all Hostel canteens. There is a separate food court/ Cafeteria which serves multi-cuisine on additional charges.

11. How about my safety on campus?

-The campus is guarded 24x7 by security guards & CCTV monitoring. Sarala Birla University is a complete ragging free zone.

Fee Related

1. When do I have to pay for my semesterfee and Bus/Hostel Accommodation fee?

-All semester fee and Bus/Hostel Accommodation fee are payable before commencement of new Semester.

2. Do I need to pay the Admission/Tuition fee at the time of Counselling/Admission?

-Yes. The fee is to be paid on the day of counselling/admission.

3. Is there any other fee apart from the Tuition fee or Hostel Fee payable?

-Yes, students will have to pay the Examination fee, Development Fee, ICT Charges, Miscellaneous charges, Bus fee (As applicable) and One Time Refundable Caution Money.

4. What are the modes of payment?

-Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, Demand Draft and Online Payment.

5. Can the Application Fee be Waived/ Refunded in special cases?

-Application fee is non-refundable in all cases.

6. Are Hostel charges included in the Tuition Fee?

-No. The hostel fee is mentioned separately.

7. In whose favor should the Payment Demand Draft (DD) be made, and which bank DD is acceptable?

-The Demand Draft (DD) should be made in favor of Sarala Birla University, payable at Ranchi. The DD can be made from any Scheduled Bank.

8. Is there any facility for Payment in instalments?

-No. The entire semester/Hostel/Bus fee is to be paid as and when it becomes due; In case of late payment Fine may be charged.There is no provision for payment of the fee in instalments/parts.

Academic Related

1. What is the medium of instruction/ Communication in the classes?

-Mode of Instruction/ Communication in the classis English. For Yoga Hindi and Sanskrit are also used.

2. If I’m reporting late to the University?

-If in any the case you are reporting late to the University after your admission, your lectures attendance might run short for each day you come late after the session has begun. In case of such an event, you are advised to seek prior permission in writing with a valid reason for reporting late to the University.

3. Can I bring my Laptop to the campus?

- We advise you to carry your laptop while reporting to the campus.

4. Can I Change the Program after Admission?

-Yes, you can change the Program only once before a specific date (to be announced by the University) subject to availability of Seats in that respective Program. However B-Tech and Polytechnic Diploma students can switch their specialization/ branch before commencement of 3rd Semester subject to approval by competent authority.

5. Are any extracurricular activities promoted and are facilities available for training/practice atSARALA BIRLA UNIVERSITYwhere I can improve upon my skills?

-There are plenty of facilities and activities for the overall personality development of every individual at Sarala Birla University.

-Minimum 75% attendance is mandatory to appear for Semester Exams.
