The Department of Computer Science & Engineering was established in the year 2018. The department remains committed towards its mission, which is twofold. One is to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and problem solving skills in Computer Science and Application required for a fulfilling career. The other goal is to create and disseminate knowledge to improve Computer Science and Application research, education and practice. The Department offers courses Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science & Engineering, Bachelor of Computer Application and Diploma in Computer Science & Engineering.

The vision of undergraduate and graduate Program is to infuse premium, high-quality education with a global focus that ensures our students take confident first steps in understanding the basics of Computer Applications & Science, later progress to MCA, M.Tech.in CSE and other Computer Science & Application related specializations. The University offers 3 year BCA programme to students to embark on Computer Technology career. With a well-structured curriculum spanning over three years, the programme provides ample scope to the students to gain comprehensive understanding on diverse aspects of Computer Technology and Application functioning.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Objectives

  • To improve the competency of students in understanding the underlying concepts, theory taught in curriculum.
  • The primary objective of this program is to provide a foundation of computing principles and business practices for effectively using/managing information systems and enterprise software.
  • It helps students analyse the requirements for system development and exposes students to business software and information systems.
  • This course provides students with options to specialize in legacy application software, system software or mobile applications.

ELIGIBILITY AND ADMISSION

Eligibility

10+2 or its equivalent examination in any stream with atleast 50% marks conducted by a recognized Board / University with english as one of the subject. (05% relaxation in marks in case of candidates belonging to ST/SC category).

Admission Process

They may also download the application form from the website of the University and may submit along with the relevant documents to the Information Centre of the University. They may also walk down to the University campus along with relevant documents to the Information centre for counselling and further admission process.

Applicants may submit the application form and required documents at the Admission Office personally or by post. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the application form is complete in all respects, and is accompanied by the required documents.

Applicants should attach the copies of the following Certificates/Documents.

  • Passing / Provisional Certificates along with Mark Sheets of the qualifying Examinations.
  • School/College Leaving Certificate last attended. 
  • Conduct Certificate 
  • Anti-Ragging Affidavit 
  • Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner / government health centre.

Note: Final Year students awaiting the declaration of result can also apply and can also be considered for Admission. However, they have to submit the relevant supportive documents at the time of admission

Selection Process

Selection of students of BCA programme of Sarala Birla University, Ranchi is purely done on the basis of merit. However the University reserves the right of amending the admission and selection process.

SBU is having an active placement cell working through out for maintaining good placement record. The placement cell is credited for taking active participation in selection of companies visiting the University for Campus recruitment. It is supported by active placement committee members who have rich industry experience and valuable linkages in the corporate world. To make the students corporate ready as per the specific requirement of Industry, mandatory workshops in personality development exercised have been introduced in the curriculum, in which students are trained for public speaking, logical reasoning, presentations, self-assessment exercises etc.
